Yoga Basics

April 1st, September 9th, and November 4th.

Many men begin their yoga practice by simply jumping into an all levels class which can feel a bit overwhelming. Even men who have been practicing yoga for years find that they are limited in their practice because the basic alignment principles of the poses were never explained in a slow, intentional way. Our teachers want you to get the most out of your practice, so we designed a workshop called Yoga Basics to break down the practice and give you the essential building blocks of a strong, safe and rewarding practice.

This workshop is designed for men of all ages and body types who are new to the practice of yoga, as well as for those who want to enhance their knowledge of standard yoga poses. Basic asana (yoga poses), alignment and breathing techniques will be covered. The workshop will culminate in a gentle practice using the knowledge gained, and you will get a FREE CLASS with each of our five teachers so that you can explore the varioius styles of yoga and find the best fit for your unique needs.

• Pre-registration suggested as space is limited.
• Be Sure to bring a towel, yoga mat and water.
• Discuss yoga with your physican
• Inform the teacher of any injuries or medical concerns you may have.

March 4th

SOMATIC MASSAGE: EXPLORING TOUCH AND INTIMACY with Errol Feria, CMT

This workshop facilitates finding fulfilling ways of being. We will combine experiential exercises with brief check-ins to encourage the body and mind to relax, transform and reconnect. This involves verbal and non-verbal negotiations, and bodywork – both somatic massage and other forms of touch where appropriate. All this supports the exploration of limiting beliefs and a movement towards happiness, spontaneity, creativity and an ongoing sense of wellbeing. No one should have to do it on his own.

Everyone is welcome – whatever your yoga, massage, or touch history may be. You are encouraged to bring your partner, or we will partner you up with another participant in the group.

Please bring a yoga mat, a large towel, and some drinking water.

Errol Feria, LMT have 10 years of private massage practice focusing on therapeutic soft tissue work, Swedish techniques, deep tissue, myofascial release, yoga-massage and individual or group massage instructions. Author and publisher of the book "The All Inclusive Guide to Yoga Massage" – he teaches the combined healing arts of informed touch, yoga, and meditation in 12 simple poses. He is currently working on his Master’s Degree in Somatic Psychology enhancing the mind and body experience for personal and social change.

YOGA AND THE IMMUNE SYSTEM with Charlie Goldenhawk

We all know the benefits of yoga as exercise and meditation. There has been a great deal written on the health benefits of yoga. Still many people think of yoga as something that "healthy", "young"or "fit" people do. We seldom stop to think about the effects of yoga inside our body, its effects on our internal organs and more specifically our immune system.

This workshop is designed for people who want to know more about how yoga can increase the functions of the immune system and improve their health. Whether you are healthy or immune supressed this workshop will help you understand more clearly the benefits of Yoga as medicine.

We will discuss how we can all benefit from a healthy diet, meditation practice, and how specific asana or poses help the immune system function properly. We will take time to break down the asanas and discuss how with proper alignment and technique we can begin to heal ourselves.

About Charlie Goldenhawk:
Charlie Goldenhawk is a graduate of the Yoga Tree Teacher Training program. He is a member of the Yoga Alliance and is a certified RYT 200. He continues to study and is working on his 500 certification. He has studied with Darren Main, Elise Lorimer, Les Levanthal, and Anna Forrest. He comes from a strong movement and health background, and teaches Hatha, Hatha Flow, and Vinyasa style classes.
